Cool your jets Manchester United fans.
Patience is a virtue after all, and it seems that supporters hoping Jose Mourinho will be taking over from Louis van Gaal midway through this season are wide of the mark.
It’s all but confirmed that the former Chelsea boss will now be the next man in the hotseat at Old Trafford, but Spanish newspaper Marca believe they have the exact date the Portuguese will park his bus car in the manager’s spot in the car park outside the stadium.
Mourinho has been out of work since before Christmas, but he has baulked at taking over from Louis van Gaal mid-season, and according to the newspaper, will instead be officially unveiled as Manchester United’s next manager on July 1.
The Dutchman has told reporters constantly that he is looking forward to seeing out his three-year contract at Old Trafford, which was to see him in charge until the summer of 2017.
But after this week’s developments, which indicate that Mourinho is very much set to get his dream job, it looks as though LvG’s retirement from football management will begin a year earlier than he planned.
The newspaper also suggest that Manuel Pellegrini could eventually end up at Chelsea, which would be a very interesting appointment now that he is deemed surplus to requirements at the Etihad.
