There were plenty of surprises in the original leaked Ballon d’Or longlist, but the final three are the players you’d expect.
The battle for supremacy between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will continue, with Neymar joining the pair in the final three.
Messi and Ronaldo have shared the award between them every year since 2008, and the Argentine is the bookmakers’ favourite to deny his rival three in a row.
The Ballon d’Or winner will be announced at the annual ceremony in Zurich in January.
