Roberto Firmino is a man that bloody loves a good goal celebration.
Usually, the Liverpool forward’s celebration of choice is to whip his shirt off, regardless of the temperature or the fact he picks up a yellow card every single time he opts to do so.
The Brazilian has also been known to mark some of his goals with specially-choreographed dances, as was the case when he found the net against former club Hoffenheim on Wednesday night.
Firmino added Liverpool’s fourth and final goal against the Bundesliga side, helping Jürgen Klopp’s side reach the Champions League group stage. Having slotted the ball home in front of the Kop, the 25-year-old untied the drawstrings on his shorts and pulled them down so that his knees were covered. Having done so, he broke out into a dance. Although it’s still unclear what the dance means, it’s now emerged that Firmino got it from one of his countrymen. As pointed out by Twitter user Dan, Ronaldino broke out into a similar celebration after tucking away a penalty for Atletico Mineiro in 2013.
Unlike Firmino, the former Barcelona number ten was joined in his celebration by several of his teammates. Disappointingly, Jordan Henderson – first on the scene to congratulate Firmino on Wednesday – didn’t get the memo.
