There are few things that unite football fans.
A shared admiration of Lionel Messi’s genius is one, while a distrust of Sepp Blatter and co is another.
But for fans of a non-Chelsea persuasion, a dislike of Blues captain John Terry appears to be pretty widespread too.
The 35-year-old’s poor season continued on Saturday as he opened the scoring at Stamford Bridge for the wrong team, giving Everton a 1-0 lead.
Although Chelsea would level the scores at 2-2 just 16 minutes later, fans of all teams took a great deal of joy from Terry’s misfortune.
Why didn't John Terry celebrate his goal. It's not as if he scored against his former club or something.

Even though it's probably better for us if Chelsea win, I sure do love to see John Terry score an own goal.

John Terry own goal: football's equivalent of Piers Morgan spilling curry sauce on his shirt

Spurs win, England win and then John Terry sticks it through his own net.

Guus Hiddink's smart. Why make the case for phasing out John Terry when John Terry can provide all the evidence required?

John Terry own goals are particularly sweet. And this one is pretty funny! Kicks it into his own leg and ricochets into the net. Nice.
