Conor McGregor v Frankie Edgar is a very real possibility and we couldn’t be more excited.
Edgar was all but promised the next title shot at 145 lbs, the division in which McGregor is now the undisputed champion, after knocking out fellow top contender Chad Mendes in impressive style at The Ultimate Fighter finale.
So if McGregor decides to defend his belt before a move up to 155 lbs, Edgar is the man he’ll be standing opposite.
‘The Notorious’ has hinted that he may wish to take a lightweight title fight in his next outing and the UFC might want him to vacate his featherweight strap if that’s the case.
But the early odds have nonetheless been released for McGregor v Edgar, with the Irishman hovering around as a 1/2 favourite.
Edgar meanwhile has opened as a 6/4 underdog according to the early oddsmakers.
Odds have also been released on a potential rematch between McGregor and former champion Jose Aldo.
It will surprise nobody to learn that McGregor is also favourite to beat Aldo again, at odds of 3/5 with the Brazilian 27/20 to regain his featherweight belt.
