Chelsea might be reigning Premier League champions, but looking at the table for the calendar year you might not realise.
The Blues’ shocking title defence has left them languishing far closer to the drop zone than the top four this season, and this is reflected in their points tally for 2015 as a whole.
Of the 17 teams to feature in the top flight both last season and this, Jose Mourinho’s men are sixth – one place below this season’s surprise package Leicester.
Arsenal are top, after finishing last season strongly and carrying that form into the current campaign, with the two Manchester clubs and Tottenham rounding off the top four.
The bottom three are less surprising, with three of the current bottom four – Sunderland, Newcastle and Aston Villa – ammassing the fewest points since New Year’s Day.
