When it comes to patriotism in football, the United States takes some beating.
This is a country where the national anthem is sung before league games, and where a member of the international squad famously kitted himself out in a stars-and-stripes vest brandishing two guns.

With that in mind, it was no surprise to see some of the country’s biggest footballing (sorry, soccering) names take to social media to display their national pride on the country’s Independence Day.
Most of the senior squad are in training ahead of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, but those on European soil were up early this fourth of July.

Jermaine Jones is missing the Gold Cup due to injury, but he still had time to back his team-mates by donning his country’s flag.

Former Premier League man Clint Dempsey has been in trouble with referees recently, and he joined some of his fellow MLS representatives to make fun of his vicious streak in the most patriotic manner possible.
