This casting process was never going to take long.
There aren’t too many actresses with the required blend of mixed martial arts ability and striking good looks needed to portray Ronda Rousey on the big screen.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise to learn that Rousey herself will play the lead role in the upcoming biopic about her life.
The film will cover the fighter’s early life and MMA career, charting her journey to becoming the most dominant champion in UFC history.
Her latest acting venture adds to her appearances in Expendables 3, the Entourage movie and Furious 7. And when you consider that her last three title defences have taken a combined 64 seconds, you can hardly blame her for finding other ways to pass the time.
After appearing alongside the Rock at last year’s Wrestlemania, parallels are being drawn between the pair.
“I never thought that being an action movie star was in the cards for me,” Rousey told the Hollywood Reporter, “My agent kept telling me, ‘You’re going to be the female Rock.’ Then I started to believe it could be a reality.”
Spare a thought for those being cast as Rousey’s many victims.
