It was billed as the dream final, but many are glad it won’t now come to pass.
With Liverpool safely through to the Capital One Cup final following their defeat of Stoke City, and Everton taking a one-goal lead into the second leg of their semi-final with Man City, everything pointed to an all-Merseyside final.
In many ways it would have been the headline writers’ dream, with the tension of a fierce local derby adding spice to the prestige final at Wembley.
But it seems many actual Liverpool and Everton fans were more fearful of defeat to their bitter rivals than hopeful of bragging rights in such a stressful scenario.
Man City’s eventual victory ensured that Scousers of both red and blue allegiance can breathe a huge sigh of relief. Certainly the fans below are glad a Merseyside final didn’t transpire…
Toffees
Ah well. At least we don't have to go through the agony of losing to Liverpool in the final, eh?

On a minor bright side, I don't have to sit through a final against Liverpool. That's delightful, I hate derbies.

We would have lost to them in the final anyway

I'd rather play City. Everton will terrorise our defence…

Rather lose 73-0 to city in the final than lose at all to Everton

Not gonna lie I'm glad we're playing City and not Everton. Not sure me nerves could take it and the though of them beating us is not good.

…and the neutrals
Gutted for Everton but at least we don't have to put up with all that bull about "the friendly final"& stories on houses divided for the day
