Bloody English weather!

In the world we live in, it’s not uncommon for football fans to travel from the other side of the world to watch their beloved football teams.

With the festive period approaching, that’s exactly what former Southend resident, Andrew Urry, decided to do.

Leaving his home in Brisbane, Andrew made a 10,207 mile trip from Australia’s Gold Coast to Bradford, for Southend’s away fixture.

Unfortunately for him, the West Yorkshire weather interfered and he was told by a steward upon arrival at Valley Parade that the game had been cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.

“We were told as the coach pulled up outside the stadium,” Andrew told BBC Sport. “I got off the coach to have a couple of pictures taken outside the away turnstile, and then we were straight back on the road again.”

Thankfully, Andrew still has a few more chances to see the Shrimpers before he heads back Down Under. He’s still in the UK for their next three home games.

Let’s hope it stays dry.
