What’s more impressive than scoring 1,000 runs in a cricket match? Doing it when you’re just 15 years old.
Indian schoolboy Pranav Dhanawade broke a record that had stood since 1899 when he hit the incredible score while batting for his school team in the inter-school Bhandari Cup tournament.
The record had stood at 628, set by a British player at the tail end of the 19th century.
But the teenager carried on long beyond that mark, right up until his team declared on 1465/3.
Dhanawade’s epic innings included 59 sixes and 129 fours, and earned him congratulations from none other than Sachin Tendulkar.
Congrats #PranavDhanawade on being the first ever to score 1000 runs in an innings. Well done and work hard. You need to scale new peaks!
