This is what needs to happen for Leicester to win the league now

Drama at the death...

Ben Kenyon

Leicester City aren’t quite there yet.

Many fans expected the Foxes juggernaut to tear through Manchester United to win the Premier League title at Old Trafford.

It would have been incredibly symbolic for Claudio Ranieri’s men to lift the trophy at the famous old club which has so often been the Premier League victor, rather than the also-ran.

But it wasn’t quite to be as Louis van Gaal’s men held the table-toppers to a 1-1 draw after taking the lead early on and Danny Drinkwater being sent off at the death.

However, Leicester City could still finish the Bank Holiday with the sweetest and most historic of victories.

You’re probably wondering what needs to happen in Tottenham’s match against Chelsea tomorrow for Leicester to win the title.

With Leicester on 77 points after today’s draw against Man United, Spurs now MUST win against Chelsea to keep the heat on Leicester.

If Spurs lose or draw against Chelsea, their title hopes are shattered, and Leicester will be crowned Premier League champions.

Spurs have an abysmal record at Stamford Bridge, and even with Chelsea’s poor season, many are expecting them to take points from 2nd place Tottenham.

If Spurs do beat Chelsea tomorrow then there’s still a glimmer of hope. It would leave the London club on 72 points, just five behind the league leaders.

It would then be down to Leicester to beat Everton at home on May 7 and Spurs not getting maximum points against Southampton the following day for the Foxes to win their first title.

A draw or a loss for Leicester would leave the door open for an unthinkable Spurs comeback.
