This Jurgen Klopp stat will not make pleasant reading for Brendan Rodgers

Tom Victor

Brendan Rodgers did fantastically at Liverpool…up to a point.

He took the Reds within touching distance of their first league title in the Premier League era, but there are few who will argue with his sacking.

The Ulsterman’s struggles against top sides away from Anfield played a part in his demise, so he’s unlikely to be too impressed by how easy his successor Jurgen Klopp is making it all look.

A crushing 4-1 victory at Manchester City followed an impressive come-from-behind win at Chelsea, and helped bring up this telling stat.

In games against the two Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Arsenal, Rodgers was victorious just once – the memorable 3-0 win at Old Trafford in March 2014.

And some will say even that ought not to count, coming as it did against a dead man walking in David Moyes.

What a turnaround it has been under Klopp.
