Little over a year ago The Netherlands were a real force in world football.
The Oranje stunned world champions Spain 5-1 in the group stage of the World Cup 2014 and went on to finish third in the competition after going out to Argentina on penalties.
Fast forward a year and they are a team in total disarray.
They failed to even qualify for Euro 2016 from a group containing Iceland. Czech Republic and Turkey.
England on the other hand, a team who a year ago were dismally knocked out of the World Cup in the group stages, now have a 100% record qualification for the Euros.
If there’s anything that sums up The Netherlands’ precipitous fall from grace more than Robin Van Persie’s own goal in his side’s 3-2 defeat to the Czechs, it’s this one statistic.
