Tim Howard is set to earn a seriously staggering amount of money in MLS

Holy s***

Robert Redmond

Nice work if you can get it.

Tim Howard will join MLS franchise Colorado Rapids in the summer after spending nine years with Everton.

Watching his performances over the past couple of seasons for the Toffees, you’d be forgiven for thinking there wouldn’t really have been a stampede to sign the American goalkeeper goaltender.

However, it turns out someone still rates Howard, because he’s set to become not only the highest earning ‘keeper in MLS, but will reportedly be paid more than every other keeper in the league combined.

Howard will be a designated player with Colorado, meaning he’s paid outside the franchise’s capped wage bills.

Designated players tend to be attackers or midfielders, such as Robbie Keane, Steven Gerrard, Andrea Pirlo, Frank Lampard, or Kaka –  hence the generous standard of defending throughout the league.
