What time is UFC 229 and how can I watch Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov?

Everything you need to know about the biggest fight of the year

Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov takes place at UFC 229 overnight Saturday

The McGregor v Khabib main event of UFC 229 has it all.

A former champion looking to reclaim the crown he never lost against an undefeated fighter who has never lost a round in the UFC.

A classic striker vs. grappler match-up between a man who shared the ring with Floyd Mayweather and one who has been able to take down all but one opponent in the Octagon.

The realisation of a rivalry brimming with bad blood as Conor McGregor looks for vengeance for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s treatment of McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov while the unbeaten Russian aims to make ‘The Notorious’ pay for his Brooklyn bus attack.

It really is the fight of the year.

When is the fight?

The bout takes place in Las Vegas on October 6 but fight fans on this side of the Atlantic will have to either set their alarms or power through as the UFC 229 main card takes place at 3am BST, meaning the main event will likely take place at around 5am on the morning of Sunday, October 7.

How can I watch the fight?

Unless you managed to get tickets for the T-Mobile Arena, you’ll be watching on BT Sport. BT Sport continues to hold exclusive rights for UFC events in this part of the world until next year, when the coverage will shift to online platform Eleven Sports.

What is on the line?

Nurmagomedov will put his UFC lightweight title on the line against McGregor. Russia’s Nurmagomedov claimed the vacant 155lbs belt by beating Al Iaquinta in April. McGregor was forced to vacate the belt due to inactivity, having become the first person to hold two UFC titles simultaneously when he added the lightweight strap to his featherweight one with his victory over Eddie Alvarez in November 2016.
