The staunch Evertonian took exception to a tweet sent by an account posing as the former Liverpool striker
It’s derby day on Merseyside, and hours before kick-off at Goodison, Tony Bellew has become embroiled in a Twitter spat with an account pretending to be former Liverpool striker, Titi Camara.
The fake account had sent a tweet on Sunday morning referring to Everton as ‘mongrels’. Seeing this, the former world cruiserweight champion, a staunch Evertonian, responded by comparing Camara to ex-Premier League referee, Uriah Rennie.
Right back at ya Uriah Rennie.. are you officiating today pal? COYB

Quote tweeting the recently retired boxer’s response, the bogus Camara account then made reference to Bellew’s win over David Haye in 2017, when his opponent had ruptured his achilles. This prompted Bellew to remind him that he’d been a world champion in his sport.
No son I’ve been a world champion in my sport! Is that what you was in yours?? Sorry I didn’t so either… 👍

Bellew then questioned claims that him likening Camara to Rennie had been racist, labelling Camara – or the person he thought was Camara – ‘pathetic’.
And now you’ve deleted your tweet throwing in the racism card!! I’m embarrassed for you!! A look a like these days is racism eh Titi?? Just so you know my mother is black so I suppose that kinda makes me w mongrel eh? Half black half white? Had enough yet Tit i?

A look a like is racist? Im as much black as I am white and even if I wasn’t it’s still not racist! So if he says pipe down George Clooney is that racist to? Fucking PATHETIC!

The Camara account later replied to Bellew’s earlier tweet about being a world champion, pointing out that he’d defended his title in a rematch against an ageing Haye before losing his final fight to Oleksandr Usyk last November.
In his reply, Bellew again used the opportunity to ask the Camara account what he’d actually achieved in his career that might compare to being a world champion…
Once again Titi I’ve been a world champion! I’ve beaten other former world champions! Once again what have you actually done at that kind of level? You haven’t is the answer! Also why did you delete your tweet??
— Tony Bellew (@TonyBellew) March 3, 2019
To which it replied…
Golden foot world champion Tony. You should of deleted your tweet sir pic.twitter.com/tevobbLv6o

Seemingly still oblivious to the fact he was responding to a parody account, Bellew sent another reply…
Haha WBC world champion Titi! The same belt was held by sporting ICONS!! Legends!! What I done will never be forgotten! I haven’t a clue what you’ve done son… pic.twitter.com/8a3wRiwnVF

Exhausting stuff.
As for the game itself, Liverpool need to record a win over their local rivals to return to the top of the Premier League table. Manchester City’s win away at Bournemouth – courtesy of Riyad Mahrez’s goal – was enough to see them reclaim top spot ahead of the game at Goodison Park.
