You have to admire the cojones on Tony Ferguson.
It’s just over a week until Tony Ferguson finally fights for UFC gold as he takes on Kevin Lee in UFC 216’s headliner and he’s nearly getting into fights with giants.
At the UFC 216 media lunch, ‘El Cucuy’ and former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum needed to be separated when they both became quite aggressively out of nowhere. Werdum is set to take on Derrick Lewis on the main card of the same event.
Werdum seemed to take issue with Ferguson shushing him during an interview, a move which really set him off. The Brazilian furiously stood out of his seat, squared up to the 155 lber and began unloaded a sea of Portuguese insults at him.
A UFC PR representative had to intervene to ensure that the two did nothing that they regretted, but Ferguson didn’t seem intimidated by the man who outweighs him by about 50 pounds when they’re walking around. He even had the audacity to say, “Have fun fighting on my undercard,” as Werdum was being escorted away.
It’s worth noting that Ferguson refused to talk about the incident involving the heavyweight at the subsequent conference call for the event later that evening.
