The footballing world was rocked by the sad passing of Johan Cruyff, the godfather of Total Football.
The Dutch legend died aged 68 after losing battle with cancer. Cruyff, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in October of last year, died on Thursday surrounded by his family members after the condition deteriorated.
Obviously, tributes have been flooding in for the football icon, but some have been better received than others.
One of which that hasn’t been getting the greatest of receptions on social media came courtesy of former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
Johan Cruyff – created 'The Cruyff' move that every generation uses – A Legend. RIP

You’ve probably already guessed the two elements of Rio’s tribute that Twitter users took issue with.
That’s right, getting the name of the legendary footballer’s signature skill move wrong was something that the people of social media couldn’t let go, while others felt the fact that he pointed out that Cruyff invented the “The Cruyff move” was blatantly stating the obvious.
And boy did they let him know all about their disapproval of the tweet.
Thank You, Sherlock Holmes.@rioferdy5
