Everybody wants a piece of The Notorious.
UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley held onto his recently-won belt by the skin of his teeth as his fight with Stephen Thompson was scored a majority draw.
Wonderboy will be eager for an immediate rematch and Dana White is inclined to grant it. Demian Maia is also in the title picture. However, Woodley is angling for the pay-day of his life against McGregor, who beat Eddie Alvarez to become 155 lb champion alongside his 145 lb belt.
Speaking at the post UFC 205 press conference, Woodley said:
“I’m going to talk with my management and see what is next for me. I don’t know if Conor wants to go for a third belt. Looks like he was talking a lot of noise in the back so we’ll see.”
Woodley said he had no problem with letting McGregor borrow his belt so he could have two to drape over his shoulders.
McGregor was not surprised when he heard Woodley wanted to take a run at him.
McGregor commented:
“I’m sure he would. I’m sure he f**king would. They all would.
“I’ve got a million other hurdles before I consider any of this.”
The Dubliner was not committing to any more fights but, this evening, Woodley seemed to think he had the bout he wanted. Thompson may have to wait.
@WonderboyMMA Great Battle last night! You are alright in my book! @ufc #ufc205 #ufcnyc See You After I beat up Lucky Charm @TheNotoriousMMA

As for the ‘Lucky Charm’ dig, if that’s the best Woodley has to offer, he should stay out of the verbal and social media sparring with McGregor. He wouldn’t last a second.
Featherweight champion, lightweight champion and welterweight contender. We would not put it past him.
