The only light heavyweight title fight that makes sense has been booked for UFC 206, and some people still aren’t happy.
With Jon Jones still in limbo awaiting to hear his fate from the Nevada State Athletic Commission following his failed drug test at UFC 200, there was only one man left to take on champion Daniel Cormier for that coveted strap.
Anthony Johnson (22-5, 13-5 UFC) solidified his position as the number one contender with that legitimately terrifying 13-second knockout of Glover Teixeira at UFC 202. Sure enough, when it came time for the UFC to book a marquee bout for the highly-anticipated Canadian show, Rumble got the call.
The first time they met at UFC 187, Cormier (17-1, 5-1 UFC) recovered impeccably from an early onslaught and utilised his elite wrestling acumen to wear the power-puncher down and eventually force the tap with a rear-naked choke in the third round. However, Rumble was a mere centimeters from winning the fight when his monstrous haymaker dropped the champ in the first round.
Cormier announced his next fight on “UFC Tonight” in the wee hours of Thursday morning. The 205 lb title fight was not announced as the headliner of the December 10 card, and the bout order is till yet to be set.
Although this fight would be good enough to headline most UFC events, some people still took issue with it. With arguably the greatest fighter to ever grace an Octagon wanted to make his return (but only for the right price), some were disappointed that Georges St-Pierre wasn’t announced on the card.

Some wanted the UFC to wait for the other “arguably the greatest ever” to return before booking the next light heavyweight title fight.
Jon bones Jones really should be getting that, I am convinced he was genuine and that's the money fight surely

Then there was the glass-half empty brigade.

unless there's a flash ko in first 30 seconds, afraid the second one goes the same as the first.

At least this guy gets it… even if he can’t quite grasp the fact that he deserves our boos!
