Conor McGregor knows that he has to get a win under his belt if he is to set up another shot at the lightweight title
There is no shortage of potential comeback bouts for McGregor but one of the most intriguing is undoubtedly a clash with Justin Gaethje.
Gaethje is one of the most exciting fighters on the entire UFC roster and his popularity has soared ever since ‘The Highlight’ brought his own unique brand of all-action offence to the Octagon after his remarkable stint with the World Series of Fighting.
Gaethje secured a place in the UFC’s top five at 155lbs with his stunning knockout victory over Edson Barboza last month and while he wasted no time in calling out lightweight champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Gaethje also made his interest known in fighting ‘The Notorious’.

Speaking to TMZ last week, Gaethje insisted that he would be eager to travel to Ireland to meet the nation’s most famous fighter.
“Fuck, man, it’s the name of the game,” Gaethje said. “I want to fight him. I want to fight him in Ireland. I know it’s not gonna happen in Ireland but that’s my dream, to go over there and be in that sort of chaos. That’s what fucking wakes me up every day.
“I’ll go out there and stand and knock him out. He wants to retire, I can help him on his way out.”
UFC President Dana White recently revealed that he is in constant communication with McGregor and will sit down with the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion later this month to finalise his next fight.
Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, meanwhile, claims that McGregor has already received an offer to fight his most violent client.
Yo, McTapper. You’re offered to fight @Justin_Gaethje, you going to man up and fight, or your soul still hurting from that 🦅 ass whipping? Justin will take you to a different level of deep waters. @TheNotoriousMMA

Abdelaziz, who also represents Nurmagomedov, has gone back-and-forth with McGregor in the past and is well aware of the payday that comes with fights against ‘The Notorious.’
