UFC London loses fight just hours before event as all-British bout scrapped

Awful news

There will be just one all-British clash on the UFC London card as Ian Entwistle vs. Brett Johns has been cancelled at the eleventh hour.

Just hours before the Octagon doors open in the O2 Arena, Accrington’s Entwistle was pulled from his bantamweight meeting with his Welsh opponent on doctor’s advice.

MMA Junkie first broke the news that Entwistle, who was the only fighter to miss the targeted weight on Friday, would not be permitted to compete for the fourth time under the UFC banner.

Entwistle looked notably drained as he took to the scales on Friday but initially the fight looked to remain on the card as Johns accepted the bout with 20% of Entwistle’s purse going to the Welshman.

But the UFC’s medical staff deemed it too dangerous to allow ‘Enty’ to compete.

It is the second time in as many fights that Entwistle has been forced to withdraw from a contest as his scheduled UFC 204 fight with Rob Font in Manchester was called off when Entwistle fell ill on the day of the weigh-ins.

UFC London will go ahead with 12 bouts, with Scott Askham vs. Brad Scott the only remaining all-British showdown remaining on the card.

Action gets underway in just a few hours from the O2 Arena.
