Matt Brown thinks Jose Aldo deserves an immediate rematch, despite being finished in less time than it took Bruce Buffer to introduce him.
The top UFC welterweight weighed in his opinion on what Conor McGregor’s next fight should be on Great MMA Debate podcast.
Brown reckons that Aldo’s legacy in the sport means he has earned the right to dictate who he fights next, even though he was knocked out in just 13-seconds at UFC 194 at the heavy hands of McGregor.
“I think Aldo should fight Conor. Yeah, I think so 110 percent. I think Aldo has done everything to deserve whatever he wants at this point in his career.”
“That son of a bitch has been a champion for however many years, undefeated for 10 years, he’s been an honorable soldier for the UFC. Maybe he’s not the most marketable guy so that’s the reason he’s not getting it, but he just fucking deserves it.”
However, Brown added that Frankie Edgar, who finished Chad Mendes inside one the night before UFC 194 deserves his crack at the Notorious too, although Aldo should be ahead of him in the pecking order.
“Frankie deserves it, too. I think he deserves it every bit as much as Aldo but when you’re even like that you’ve got to pick one guy ahead of the other and the ‘X’ factor in that is Aldo was ex-champion for so many years and he already beat Frankie so he should get the jump in front of Frankie.”
