Romance was in the Dallas air at UFC 211… mostly violence, but romance was present too.
Another women’s strawweight title fight, another dominant performance for champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. As is so often the case for anyone who faces the Polish Powerhouse not named Karolina or Claudia, challenger Jessica Andrade was praised for her gameness, toughness and heart during the one-sided affair.
In the end, Joanna was handed the unanimous decision victory with the judges scoring the contest 50-45, 50-44, 50-54 in her favour. And if those numbers aren’t enough to convince you about how competitive the fight was, perhaps the following statistic will.
According to the unofficial stats on UFC.com, Jedrzejczyk landed 230 strikes over five rounds which is exactly as many as Andrade attempted. She only found home with 40$ of those strikes, so in other words, she was completely outclassed.

There’s no shame in being beaten by the best and at 25, Andrade is sure to take lot from this loss and return better.
After the result was announced, she had a huge grin washed over her face. An unusual sight for someone who’s just lost a title fight. However, all became clear when she began answering Joe Rogan’s questions through the aid of a translator.
“I came here to be champ, but I’m still early in my career. I’m still purple belt in jiu jitsu. I’m still blue belt in Muay Thai. I will still be coming back, but today, I want to make a big special request to my girlfriend, who is here, I want to ask her in marriage.”
The translator’s presence made the sweet moment fairly awkward viewing, but Andrade’s other half clearly speaks Portuguese because the fighter confirmed to Rogan that she had seen her say yes from the crowd.
Aw bless.
