UK map of Premier League strongholds produces surprising results (Graphic)

We never saw some of these coming...

Tom Victor

Which is the most popular Premier League club in your postcode? It ought to be pretty obvious, right? Think again.

A new map from Sky Sports has broken down a map of the UK based on the most-watched Premier League team, and the results aren’t entirely predictable.

There are a few unsurprising results, with Arsenal dominating London and Liverpool top in Merseyside, but it’s not all as expected.

Leeds United may have a historic rivalry with Manchester United, but that didn’t stop the Red Devils from being the most-watched team in the Yorkshire city.

And while the connection between Chelsea and Rangers unsurprisingly sees the Blues among the most popular north of the border, Jose Mourinho’s side lead the way in Edinburgh, Dundee and Falkirk…but not Glasgow, where United dominate yet again.

Fans of Manchester City, Tottenham and Everton may be disappointed that none of their clubs have a single stronghold in the whole of the UK.

As for Leicester City’s popularity in the Outer Hebrides, we’re absolutely stumped. Answers on a postcard please.
