Gameiro becomes the second striker to join Valencia this summer after Michy Batshuayi joined on loan from Chelsea on the day of the Premier League transfer deadline.
The Frenchman struggled to break into the Atlético side during his time at the Madrid club, with Angel Correa and Diego Costa to compete with for the second striker slot alongside Antoine Griezmann.
Gameiro should slot into Valencia’s team seamlessly, with Marcelino using a similar 4-4-2 formation to that which Diego Simeone uses at Atlético Madrid.
He scored 27 goals and provided 11 assists in 83 games for Atléti – not bad for a substitute – and Valencia fans will be hoping he combines well with the likes of Rodrigo and Batshuayi and rediscover his most prolific form, last seen at Sevilla.
He is now 31 but still has the pace that has made him such a difficult forward to play against for defenders and has bags of experience in La Liga.
