While all of the focus has been on Chicago this weekend, it’s going to be all about New York next week
Conor McGregor is due to take on Eddie Alvarez in UFC 205 on an huge card for the promotion’s first ever trip to New York.
The Dubliner is aiming to become the first simultaneous two-division champion in the history of the UFC, and you can expect him to bring an army of Irish fans to the iconic New York venue.
Robert Nolan has put together this excellent animated promo for the event, fusing Gangs Of New York with, whisper it, a bit of Mrs. Brown’s Boys for good measure.
Central to the whole thing, though, is McGregor himself. And his army. This is great.
In addition to the McGregor v Alvarez title fight, we can look forward to plenty of other local interest in NYC next weekend.
New York State’s Chris Weidman will be in action against Yoel Romero, while there will be title defences for Tyron Woodley and Joanna JÄ™drzejczyk.
Oh, and did we mention Khabib Nurmagomedov is up against Michael Johnson, knowing that victory over ‘The Menace’ could set up a meeting with the winner of the McGregor-Alvarez bout?
This is going to be huge.
