He may suck at making weight but Melvin Guillard continues to bring fireworks whenever the cage door slams shut.
The 22-fight UFC veteran is plying his trade under the Bellator banner nowadays and earned his first win in his new promotional home in some style on Friday night.
After missing weight for the fourth time in his last five fights, the “lightweight” set the main card of Bellator 159 alight with a first round knockout victory over Bellator mainstay David Rickels.

Rickels was looking to nullify the incredible power possessed by ‘The Young Assassin’ by closing the distance and pressuring Guillard against the fence.
But Guillard created some space and arced a gorgeous elbow into Rickels’ jaw which took his legs from under him.
Guillard followed him to the mat and unleashed a furious series of strikes to claim his first win in over two years.
After the victory, he made it clear that he wanted his next fight to be at 170lb against Britain’s Paul Daley.
Daley came up short against Douglas Lima in his last Bellator outing.
Guillard: this is officially my last fight at 155. I'm going up to 170. … I want Semtex. I want Paul Daley. (Me: pretty darn good idea.)
