“When you have moments like this, why would you ever call it a day?”
Richie McCaw became the first ever man to captain his nation to consecutive World Cup triumphs.
The 34-year-old flanker is, most expect, going to call it a day after the tournament but has waved away all such questions in recent months.
Immediately after steering the All Blacks to a 34-17 win over Australia, McCaw was asked on ITV, “Do you now call it a day?”
“I still don’t want it to end, to be honest,” McCaw replied.
When they cut back to the ITV studio, former All Blacks captain Sean Fitzpatrick joked, “Why not? 2019, Japan, 200 Test matches. Possible…”
