This will break the hearts of gamblers everywhere.
We all know that there’s no such thing as a sure thing, but sometimes you can feel pretty damn confident that you know how something’s going to end.
For instance, when Barry Geraghty takes his horse over the final hurdle with a strong lead over second place you can usually take it as given that he’ll bring it home and win the race.
That’s just what happened at the 2.40 at Sandown on Friday as Geraghty rode What’s The Scoop seemingly to victory, before his mount suddenly veered off to the side and allowed Starvin Marvin to pop in and claim the win.
According to The Racing Post, a total of £29,000 was traded at 1.01 – the lowest possible price in Betfair’s in-play betting – before What’s The Scoop forfeited the lead.
