The opening minutes of Steven Gerrard’s first full Major League Soccer campaign didn’t go to plan.
The former Liverpool skipper lost possession in the middle of the field after just five minutes, allowing DC United to take the lead against his LA Galaxy side.

DC remained in front at the break, but Gerrard and his teammates (including new signings Ashley Cole and Nigel De Jong) turned things around in the second half.
After Daniel Steres nodded them level, two goals for Mike Magee either side of a Robbie Keane penalty – made it look like a comfortable win for the Galaxy.
The highlights are available below, but be warned – the commentator seems to think it’s fine to do that “GOOOOOAAAALLLLLL” thing whenever the ball is put into the net.
