WATCH: Brendan Rodgers hands League Cup winners’ medal to girl in the crowd

A lovely touch

Celtic retained their Scottish League Cup title on Sunday afternoon, beating Motherwell 2-0 at Hampden Park.

The score was goalless at half-time, with James Forrest curling home the opener shortly after the break. Any realistic chances of Motherwell getting anything from the game were gone by the time the game reached the hour mark. Cedric Kipre was sent off after making contact with Scott Sinclair in his own area, and Moussa Dembele tucked away the penalty.

The victory meant that Brendan Rodgers had become the first Celtic manager to guide the team to four consecutive domestic trophy wins since Jock Stein.

After the trophy presentation, Rodgers was seen making his way over to the Celtic supporters. Singling out a girl in the crowd, the former Liverpool boss handed his winners’ medal to her as a souvenir of the day.

Lovely stuff, we’re sure you’ll agree.

Celtic’s return to league action sees them travel to Motherwell on Wednesday evening, playing them for a third time in a week at home next Saturday.
