The scenes of violence that have tarnished the opening week of Euro 2016 reared their ugly head in Lille once again on Tuesday night.
The Russian Football Federation had been issued with a suspended disqualification on Tuesday following violent scenes inside the Stade Velodrome during their meeting with England on Saturday night, but only hours after it was issued, the trouble started again in Lille.
With Russia taking on Slovakia in Lille on Wednesday and England and Wales meeting in Lens – a short distance away – on Thursday, fans from all three teams had gathered in the city on Tuesday.
There were signs of trouble early in the afternoon when England and Wales fans chanted “Fuck off Russia, we’re England and Wales” in unison.

Later in the evening, an English fan was caught receiving brutal treatment from three Russian fans after he had been separated from the group he was travelling with.

Four thousand extra police have been called into Lille, approximately 350 bars will close early on Wednesday and Thursday and the sale of alcohol in shops has been restricted until Friday in an effort to avoid a repeat of such disturbances.
