Jamie Redknapp isn’t generally known as Sky Sports’ most eminent pundit, but he usually does a solid enough job. He’s certainly no Gary Neville or Jamie Carragher, and rarely provides any real thought-provoking insight, but he is…there. And tends to say obvious things in obvious ways.
In the nicest possible way, he should probably stick to that. Because it’s better than trying to use terms/phrases you don’t fully comprehend yourself. During half-time, whilst covering Tottenham’s annihilation of Southampton on Boxing Day, Redknapp was asked to comment.
Referring to Harry Kane’s opening goal, he called the cross that was nodded home…spiteful. Now the dictionary definition is thus:
‘Wanting to annoy, upset, or hurt another person, especially in a small way, because you feel angry towards them: a spiteful child.’
