Scotland’s One for Arthur is the Aintree Grand National champion.
All 40 horses that started the race returned safe and sound. As did all the jockeys that competed.
In the end though, it was the 14/1 One for Arthur that crossed the line first, beating out Cause of Causes in second, and Saint Are and Blaklion who took home third and fourth respectively.
The winner turned on the afterburners at the perfect time, requiring a late surge to take the prestigious race.
emarkably, the horse recovered from jumping into favourite Blaklion at the second-last fence to gallop into the lead.
Winning jockey Derek Fox was understandably thrilled with the result, quotes via At the Races.
“It’s unbelievable. I can’t believe it. He just jumped so well, even though he was a long way back. He never missed a fence, within reason. He was unbelievable.
“I was lucky to get back in time – I want to thank Jack Berry House. Without them I wouldn’t have got back in time and I wouldn’t have been as fit as I am.”
ONE FOR ARTHUR – the first #GrandNational winner for Scotland since Rubstic in 1979! https://t.co/mHr6d3vDaI
