While everyone was losing their minds over Jeff Henrick’s goal of the season candidate, Jermaine Jenas’ mind seemed like it was elsewhere.
Someone better call a medium because it appears as though Jeff Hendrick has been possessed by the ghost of Dennis Bergkamp. An incredibly feat considering the non-flying Dutchman is still alive, albeit kicking a good bit less than he used to.
The Irish international caused everyone’s jaw to drop to the floor with his stunner in Burnley’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth on Saturday. Matt Lowton found the Republic of Ireland international with a fizzing through ball that split the defence, but the awkward trajectory of the pass still left Hendrick with a lot to do. But he was more than up to the task of doing it.
He killed the ball beautifully with his right foot, let it bounce once, dinked it forward with his knee and caught it perfectly with his in-step before it dropped, sending it crashing into the top right hand corner from outside the box.
It was a magical moment and will be certain to go down as one of the goals of the season, but Jermaine Jenas didn’t seem as blown away by it as everyone else. The former Tottenham Hotspur player was in the BT Sport studio during this round of Premier League matches and reacted with the same level of enthusiasm as someone who’s just been told their dog pissed in their Cheerios.

Maybe he just didn’t see it on the little screen, because he seemed altogether too disinterested by the sensational effort.
