Lionel Messi is a good player.
Always was, always will be.
Barcelona ramped up their aggressive pursuit of La Liga with a 7-1 dismantling of Osasuna on Wednesday night. And they did it with a completely new team – well, seven new names at least.
Of course, there was still room for a little Argentine and, with just over 60 minutes, Messi buried another brace of goals.
The first of which set the tone though and it was taken with the sort of aplomb that you’d only expect from one of the greatest.
Osasuna are in possession but Messi is prowling.
Even before the ball reaches the midfielder, Messi knows where he’s going to pass it.
His instincts are bang on.
His control with his head is brilliant.
He has the coolness and audacity to keep the ball up.
The finish is pure Messi.
This guy doesn’t score bog-standard one-on-ones.
