No one can quite believe Michael Carrick’s incredible burst of speed – including Sergio Aguero

Did not go unnoticed by Manchester United fans

EA Sports may want to revise their Fifa 17 ratings.

After settling in for a spot of the Manchester derby, via the magic of the EFL Cup, we were struck by an incredible feat on the Old Trafford pitch.

It wasn’t Juan Mata’s goal or Marcus Rashford’s run or Jesus Navas’ cross that made us sit up and take notice.

No, it was a footrace between Michael Carrick and Sergio Aguero in the final five minutes of the game.

And from another angle.

Carrick, who had played the full game, seemed to easily get back at a sprinting Aguero, who was only on the pitch for fifteen minutes, and it made us wonder what their Fifa 17 ratings were.

So we looked them up and found that Carrick holds a pace rating of 52, a hell of a lot lower than the 89 enjoyed by the Argentine.

That’s what we thought!

Carrick is a 35-year-old central midfielder who was never known for his sprint speed while Aguero, 28, is renowned for outpacing defenders.

So what the hell was this about?

We suppose Carrick just wanted it more but the fact that Aguero was beaten in a footrace by a midfielder who’d supposedly lost his legs in recent seasons does not bode well for Aguero’s chances of getting Pep Guardiola back onside.

It wasn’t the most significant moment of the game but it seemed to be a particular highlight for Manchester United fans watching at home.
