If there’s one trait that Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz share it’s that of perennial unpredictability.
And the UFC obviously pulled out all the stops to make sure Wednesday’s UFC 196 press conference didn’t descend into a Jones/Cormier style brawl.
In fact, Dave Sholler may well have been having flashbacks.
It’s not often that security guards are called in for press events but the promotion felt it necessary to draft in a team of heavies to ensure that the UFC 196 main event didn’t take place ten days early.
McGregor, initially scheduled to meet Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title on March 5, now faces Diaz in a welterweight clash that will have the world watching.
It looks like we’ve got a fight, ladies and gents.
