It just doesn’t work.
For a while during Euro 2016 you couldn’t turn on a TV without hearing the ‘Will Grigg’s on fire’ song or one of its many variations; the Jamie Vardy version, for example, proved wildly popular with England fans.
It’s died down a bit since Ireland, Northern Ireland and England exited the Euros, but it was given a rendition on Friday morning in the most unlikely of venues, Wimbledon, before Andy Murray’s semi-final with Tomas Berdych.
We’re not trying to diss tennis fans or anything, but football-style chanting isn’t really a thing at tennis matches.
As a result, the attempt of these guys to replace ‘Will Grigg’ with ‘Murray’ and ‘your defence’ with ‘Centre Court’ didn’t really work.
At all.
@JOEdotie how about these Tennis hooligans… Wouldn't mess with these lads 😂 #Wimbledon pic.twitter.com/EEN32zZPas

"Murray's on fire, Centre Court is terrified."
Enough is enough.
