Wayne Rooney has had to wait a while to equal Sir Bobby Charlton’s goalscoring record for Manchester United, but the moment finally arrived in the FA Cup third round.
Rooney had been stuck on 248 United goals since November, one shy of Charlton’s final tally, but the visit of Jaap Stam’s Reading had fans convinced today would be the day.
