Conor McGregor is many things – brash, talented, charismatic, funny, divisive and arrogant to name a few.
It is part of the reason why he is quickly becoming one of the most recognisable professional athletes in the world – and that in a sport which is growing rapidly but still has some way to go in competing with the likes of football, cricket and tennis.
The Notorious manages to combine incredible physical attributes and tactical know-how with a larger-than-life persona that makes him hard to ignore – whether you like him or not. Everything is about image and how he is perceived by the fans.
Part of McGregor’s image is of course his physical appearance, and his very ‘unique’ take on fashion. To say he’s a bit of a peacock is an understatement. Whether it’s all white garb, garish shirts, or flamboyant pimp coats, he loves showing off.
But his latest sartorial fad is quite left-field even by his own standards. He has taken to wearing the most unfashionable looking over-sized specs imaginable in the hope of turning them into the latest must-have accessory – but most are unconvinced.
He probably knows that he looks mildly ridiculous donning them during press conferences, but again, it gets people talking. For our part, we were sure they reminded us of something or someone, and asked you for help. You did not let us down.
