Both sides ended the game with nine men
As far as eventful ends to a game go, Friday night’s meeting between Caernarfon and Connah’s Quay in the Welsh Premier League will take some beating.
As the game entered stoppage time, it looked for all the world that the game would fizzle out into a 1-1 draw.
Not quite.
Before the whistle, there was still time for a penalty, which allowed Connah’s Quay to clinch victory, and four – yes four – red cards as a mass brawl involving… well, pretty much everyone, broke out soon after the decisive spot-kick had been scored.
As the scuffle settled, Lewis Brass, the Connah’s Quay goalkeeper was shown red for wrestling Noah Edwards to the ground, his teammate Callum Roberts was also ordered off the field for an attempted punch, while Edwards was also sent off for a second bookable offence. Carenarfon’s Sion Bradley was also dismissed for what the referee deemed a strong challenge, meaning both sides finished with nine.
The brawl can be seen in the footage below.
