West Ham fans have been slated for their behaviour ahead of their club’s clash with Manchester United.
Some Hammers supporters pelted United’s team bus with bottles as thousands gathered in the streets ahead of the last ever game at the historic Boleyn Ground.
United players were filmed inside taking cover has missiles smashed up the side of the coach.
Mounted police and Met officers with riot shields moved in as things got out of hand.
But amid the chaos there was a remarkable moment of humanity from two West Ham fans which was captured on camera by photographer Dan Kitwood.
As trouble raged behind them, the two chivalrous Hammers fans shielded a mum and her child and helped them escape the disorder.
Proof not all football fans are mindless yobs. We salute you gents…
