Having dropped to League One since winning the FA Cup back in 2013, this season has been a much better one for Wigan Athletic.
After 46 games, Latics finished two points ahead of Burton Albion at the summit of League One, securing promotion back to the Championship in the process.
Central to their promotion push has been striker Will Grigg, with the Northern Irishman contributing 28 goals for Wigan over the course of the season.
Understandably, the club’s supporters have become quite fond of Grigg since he arrived from Brentford last summer. Only a few days ago, we showed you how Wigan fans had amusingly changed the lyrics of Gala’ 1997 classic ‘Freed from Desire’ to ‘Will Grigg’s on Fire’…

… But little did we know at the time, there’s an extended version to this chant.
Although Latics fan Sean Kennedy (said to be the song’s creator) does indeed end the performance below with his own one-man rendition of the rehashed Gala song, he begins with a tweaked version of Alicia Keys’ ‘Girl On Fire’.
The clip of the immensely talented Sean has (quite rightly) made waves on the internet in the last couple of weeks. It’s even got Wigan chairman David Sharpe excited…
Signed him for his goals but this Will Grigg chant was worth paying money for alone!! Its gone worldwide!!🔥🔥🔥

…So much so that he reached out to Sean on Monday evening to offer him a free season ticket for next season.
For inventing the best chant ever known to man, you've earned yourself a free season ticket for next season @KennoUTJ. Will Griggs on fire 🔥
