They might have won their game against Burnley on Monday, but the time since has shown that not everyone connected with Manchester City was too pleased about their victorious start to 2017.
For a start, there was the tense post-match interview that Pep Guardiola gave to the BBC in which he delivered a string of awkward responses when speaking to Damian Johnson.
There was also Bacary Sagna’s Instagram post, too. Presumably a reference to Lee Mason’s decision to send Fernandinho off for a challenge on Johann Berg Gudmunsson, the French international’s since deleted post described the hard-fought win as being ’10 against 12′. The FA have now asked Sagna to explain exactly what he meant by the post.
All that aside, one man that was happy with the win was deputy goalkeeper, Willy Caballero.
The Argentine, who was briefly Guardiola’s first choice ‘keeper before Claudio Bravo’s arrival, watched on from the City bench on Monday afternoon. Afterwards, he expressed his delight at the win on his social media pages… although there was a slight problem…
Yes, poor Willy seems to have mistaken Burnley for a completely different team – Barnsley, of the Championship. Needless to say, there were plenty of helpful folk that were willing to point out his error.
Still, it could’ve been much worse. Only a few months back, Crystal Palace bound Christian Benteke’s Twitter account appeared to announce he’d just signed for Burnley.
