44-year-old Josephine Johnson pleaded guilty to throwing the pie
A Wolves season ticket holder has been banned from watching matches for three years after she threw a pie at a West Ham supporter last month, hitting them on the head.
44-year-old Josephine Johnson pleaded guilty to throwing the pie into the away section while seated in the Steve Bull Stand during Wolves’ 3-0 win over West Ham at Molineux on January 29.
Walsall Magistrates’ Court heard how an away supporter had contacted a steward after the incident, with CCTV later reviewed to determine who had thrown the missile.
Prosecuting, Roger Blezzard, said: “CCTV was reviewed and identified a female had intentionally dropped the pie. It was dropped from a higher vicinity.”
As reported by the Express and Star, it was also heard that the woman had initially claimed the incident was an accident, later admitting she had got carried away when shown the footage.
As well as being banned from attending games until February 2022, Johnson has also been fined £300 and ordered to pay costs of £135 and a victim surcharge of £30.
At sentencing, deputy district judge Graham Bennett said: “The offence is described as throwing a pie.
“You will be aware how serious matters of disorder between opposing fans can quickly escalate into violence.
“You gave really little thought about the consequences.”
