Jurgen Klopp could be about to endear himself further to Liverpool fans by returning a club legend to Anfield.
Xabi Alonso is thought to be a target for the Reds boss, according to Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Spaniard will be out of contract with Bayern Munich at the end of the season, and Liverpool are expected to compete with clubs in MLS and Qatar for the 34-year-old’s signature.
Alonso spent five seasons at Anfield after joining from Real Sociedad in 2004, during which he won the Champions League and FA Cup, as well as the European Championships with Spain.
