Yaya Toure puts Manchester slang to good use as he complains about lack of football

Sound as a pound, Yaya lad

Those Manchester slang lessons have clearly paid off for Yaya Toure.

In spite of the fact that Toure has been living and working in Manchester since 2010, the Ivorian’s knowledge of how those in the city talk was limited until rather recently.

Toure got a crash course on Manc lingo during a recent video with his club’s official YouTube channel.

The 34-year-old was taught the meaning of terms like “chuddy”, “kecks” and “scran”.

Toure grew increasingly frustrated with the phrases which, to him, seemed utterly nonsensical and he assured his teacher that he would not be using any of the words that he’d just learned.

Well look at him now!

A matter of weeks since his first lesson, Toure perfectly used two of the terms during a tweet complaining about how he missed playing football over the summer.

“Holidays are MINT,” Toure wrote on Sunday. “But looking forward to getting back to playing football.

“No football is BOBBINS.”

Early last season, it was suggested that Toure was set for the exit door at the Etihad but he played his way back into manager Pep Guardiola’s plans throughout the campaign and it looks like he’s there to stay.

And with his new knowledge of Manc slang, the sky’s the limit for our kid.
